Saigon, the evocative former capital of French Indo-China is brought to life once more through these amazing historical photographs. This remarkable photo-documentary captures the essence and spirit of colonial Saigon from the earliest days of French rule in the mid 19th Century up to the start of World War II. The photos are drawn from the private collection of the diplomat Eric Simoneau, and the Ho Chi Minh Library. They offer a unique insight into the development and changes of the city and its people, both Vietnamese and colonial French. Expert commentary and explanations of both locations and context are offered by local historian Dao Hung.
